1) It begins by the author writing that Billy is very depressed despite his past music success and has recently contemplated suicide.

2) The author used the quote from Billy that in the morning he has a choice of "Go eat breakfast, or go kill yourself." to show his depression.

3) He is trying to say he is a depressed person even though he has had great music success, and that his new music has not had good success.

4) The author does not write himself into the article, I do not think it would have been necessary to do so. 

5) Definitely opinionated; the author clearly uses some harsh language against Corgan and highlights his depression and whining  throughout the article.
